Patricia Slavick for
Guilderland Town Board
Serving in elective office is a way to give back to the community that you believe in. I strongly believe in our community, and am fully committed to continuing to give back to Guilderland to make it an even better place to live. The citizens of our Town deserve nothing less.
Guilderland is a special place. Its diversity of resources and its convenient location make it an ideal place to live, work and raise a family. I have been a Guilderland resident for 23 years, and feel very fortunate to have raised two children here.
As an experienced and committed member of the Town Board, I have worked faithfully and tirelessly to strengthen our neighborhoods, improve public safety, enhance recreational facilities, hold the line on taxes, increase citizen participation in government, preserve green space, and, above all, to listen to the concerns of our residents and to seek solutions based on that input.
Government works best when it involves the people it serves - working with residents to address their concerns and to cooperatively develop solutions. I am seeking re-election to the Guilderland Town Board in order to continue to work with the residents of Guilderland and with other elected officials at the Town, County and State levels to address Guilderland’s concerns and advance its needs through legislative initiatives and policies.
My priorities for the next Town Board term, if re-elected, will be to:
Provide quality municipal services in a fiscally conservative manner: maintain a balanced budget and hold the line on town taxes and support inter-municipal agreements with other local governments to save taxpayer money.
Implement initiatives to improve residents’ quality of life: address storm water and flooding issues, seek funds for new sidewalks, enhance water and sewer infrastructure, and move from Albany to Colonie Landfill to protect the environment and Pine Bush Preserve.
Promote Planning and Controlled Growth: implement Neighborhood Master Plans for all Guilderland neighborhoods, review and revise the Town Zoning Law to conform to the Comprehensive Master Plan and Neighborhood Studies, and preservation of open space.
Keep government open and responsible: provide on-demand replay of town meetings on the Town website and maintain a strong ethics law.
Thank you for your vote and continued support,
Pat Slavick
