Last night the Guilderland Democratic Party picked it's candidates at the Democratic Town Caucus. The caucus was held in the large pavillion of the Tawasentha Town Park, one of Guilderland's crown jewels.
All of the Guilderland Democratic Commitee's proposed canidates were selected without any opposition. In the picture below from left to right are: Ken Runion for Town Supervisor, John Bailey for Town Justice, Rosemary Centi for Town Clerk, Allen Maikels for Town Board, Brian Forte for Town Board, and Charlie Cahill for Town Highway Superintendent. Standing with them on the right are Judges Raymond Elliott and Thomas Breslin, both of whom are running for the Third Judicial Department of the New York State Supreme Court.

The Promise of our fore fathers still remains... we really need Justice for ALL!
As we celebrate our strong nation’s independence, let us all pledge to ensure all our children a more—not less—just land.
All are asked to take part in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 P.M.
Memorial Day is a national Holiday in the United States which for many years has been observed on the last Monday of May, (May 30th in 2011).
Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates the loss of U.S. soldiers who have died while in the military service and was first inaugurated as a ritual of remembrance and reconciliation after the Civil War.
Memorial Day was expanded after World War I to honor soldiers who have died in all wars.
We're facing the first federal government shutdown since 1995 and 1996 due to the stalled budget negotiations on Capitol Hill. The policy 'riders' that are being proffered by the Republican Tea Bagger movement as essential components to the current budget bill in Washington are nothing short of irresponsible.
The fiscal costs alone caused by the continued delays in reaching a budget settlement, coupled with the costs from the disruption resulting from the impending government shutdown at midnight tonight, will likely offset any savings that might have been achieved from the current budget negotiation process.
What we are seeing is the initial battle in an ideological war that Republican Tea Baggers are waging on government and society. It's clearly not about the money; it's all about the uncompromising Tea Bagger ideology.
President Obama says he believes a budget deal that will avert a government shutdown this weekend is still possible. He says failure to reach a deal would be disruptive at a moment when the economy is beginning to gain ground.
We have secured a very good Booth display spot at this year's Altamont Fair on one of the prime exhibit lanes. We're planning to be there Tuesday THROUGH Sunday. Thursday is Fireworks Night at 9 pm!
We need volunteers for 11 AM through 4 PM and double coverage from 4:00 to 8 PM in the evening.
On Tuesday, March 2nd, our Town Board unanimously approved a resolution that opposes the closure of John Boyd Thatcher State Park.
As most of you know by now, the proposed NYS Budget contains recommendations to close 57 NYS Parks and Historic Sites, including our own local John Boyd Thacher Park.
Governor David Paterson's proposed 2010-11 State Budget will close state parks and historic sites including the John Boyd Thacher State Park which makes up the beautiful viewscape and back drop to all of Guilderland.
Protecting this park and keeping it open is very important not only to Guilderland's beauty, but also to the Town of Guilderland's and the Village of Altamont's economy. Many people travel through our area to visit the park and that's just one more way Thacher Park contributes to our Town of Guilderland.
