Guilderland's Democratic Elected Officials

In 1999, the Guilderland Democratic Committee achieved the first Democratic voting majority on the Guilderland Town Board in the 200 year history of the Town of Guilderland, and we maintain that majority today over 10 years later.
Virginia Horan was elected to Guilderland Town Board in November 1979. She was the first Democrat in 122 years to win a seat on the Republican-dominated Town Board, and achieved the further distinction of being the first Democratic woman to be elected to the Guilderland Town Board. In her honor and memory the Guilderland Democratic Committee annually recognizes a worthy individual for outstanding community service and contributions that they have made on behalf of the residents of the Town of Guilderland and the Capital District Region with The Virginia Horan Community Service Award.
